I have a 8lb pump that will do a 700 grain 12 gauge at @2000fps.
That will rattle your fillings.
BP at any given loading is more of a push vs. a smokeless kick.

Watching the video put a grin on my face. If I ever had the chance, I would fire it. Might only do it once, but I would be grinning for a week. Some things you have to try "just cuz"!

I got to shoot a 2-bore percussion pistol this summer at Colin Stolzer's shop. He was finishing up a 2-bore double percussion rifle for a guy in Southern Illinos, and the man decided to have him do a matching pistol. It was going to weigh close to 40 pounds.

I once talked with a guy that had a 6 bore flint lock he was banned from using it at muzzle loading steel shoots he broke to many targets! If I remember correctly his barrel was very long 50 inches?

Wouldn't mind digging the lead out after 300 or so shots, easy mining.

If I remember right Baker used alloy bullets that he water quenched to harden. The wieght would depend on the alloy. So far my biggest was a 4 bore waterfowl gun in flintlock with a 200 grain Fg powder charge and 6 oz of shot. That's as far as I am willing to go.

I have and regularly shoot a 50-90 Sharps Winchester Model 1885. Loaded with a 695 gr cast boolit and 105 gr of Swiss 1 1/2 powder it really gets your attention.

It is about as much recoil as I would ever want to endure. The thought of a 2500 gr projectile with that amount of powder is not something I would want to try at all.
