It's good, and no mods necessary from my end

I'm still using an oval Lyman ladle that I bought in the early sixties. It wasn't anything fancy to start with but it always has worked. I often clean out the snout hole, scrape the inside with the round part of a pocketknife and the outside as well to remove any crud/buildup. LLS

I prefer the RCBS. Having said that I use both RCBS and Lyman.

I don't use graphite spray on my moulds very often, but I use it generously with my ladles! It works wonders at preventing the crud build up to which Lone Wolf referred.

I like the Rowell #2 bottom pour

Is the egg shapped lyman ladle / dipper any good and what recomendations for modifactions if needed

A friend of mine was with me when I got mine. He immediately took it, and when it returned it, it had a new 11 inch long handle. He had made the same change to his years before. I always think of him when I use the ladle to the pot both for smelting and casting. The long handle makes it easier and safer.

I also prefer the RCBS !

I am the opposite of C.F.Plinker in that I shortened and rethreaded the handle rod. I bored out the hole slightly to increase flow.

I like the Rowell bottom pours. Long one for the gas fired 40lb. pot, and short one for the electric pot.
