I don't want to beat a dead hoarse. But I am interested in the 300BO from a different angle.
What is a possible velocity level. If you approach the cartridge trying to produce the highest velocity levels using lighter (cast) bullet weights for hunting purposes. Looking for a deer, coyote loads in say 150 to 180 bullet range.
Would you then also have to go from a 7 to 9 inch twist to a 10 or 12 inch twist rate?

This should give you an idea. http://www.quarterbore.com/300whisper/supersonic.html For the use you mentioned I would go with a 12 twist.

I've shot 170's at supersonic speeds using W296/H110 but for real speed you want even lighter than that, you should be able to get something in the neighborhood of 110-125 up to 2,300, but with a 1-8" twist that might not be real accurate. Personally I'd stick with something in the range you listed at around 1,700-1,900fps or so.

I can get 1850 with 147 m80 J words. All out of a 9 inch pistol using LIL Gun

I run the Lee 312-155-2R around 1850 with good accuracy. Any faster and accuracy seems to fall off a bit. My boolits checked and lubed weigh right at 160gr.

110-125 gr is the standard bullet weight for the 300 Blackout supersonic loads, in the 2300 fps range. 150+ gr bullets are heavy for supersonic use in this caliber; you can't think of this one like a 30-30 or 30/06, different ball game.

The hard part in your quest will be finding a light bullet that is long enough to work well in this round. Most light cast flat nose bullets are too short to load at the correct OAL without leaving the lube groove exposed. I have some 150gr cast bullets that are even too short.

I'd be interested to know what you find though; I've been considering the same thing. My barrel is a 1-8" twist, works well with light jacketed and heavy cast, but haven't tried any light cast bullets yet.
