It has happened before. They expected the ice to melt in the summer of 1880, it didn't.

The electrical storm was a hoot but hardly worthy of international news. It only happens maybe twice a year in my neck of the woods and then for about 20 minutes. Was NOT well received by the four year old and the dog. I however, loved it and stood out doors watching the lightning.

There was a documentary on the TV called 2012. There were a couple of experts in it, John Cusack and Woody Harrelson. Arcs are being built in China to ride out a flood caused by a polar shift. You have to be a politician, or scientist, or John Cusack to get on one.

Rest assured the end is near. It has been near for the last 2000 years.
Many times it seems that everything was in place and it could happen at any time, but mankind prevailed in making a few good decisions in the midst of blowing eachother to pieces.
Still, I figure that soon we will get what we are waiting for (or afraid of as the case may be).
I know that day will be the most triumphant moment in history. I just hope I am alive to see it.
After all, there is no end for me.

Goodsteel, I much prefer your perspective to that of post #4. That one was a bit depressing, not to mention the ridiculous chart.

At the same time, I want to live my life and raise my kids with an upbeat attitude and outlook. I was exposed to a lot of end-of-the-world end-times ideas when I was growing up, and in many ways it held me back from doing something with my life for quite a while. I want to raise my kids to take on the world and do their best in life, rather than hunker down and hide while they wait for the end.

You got it fatelk. The end is going to come someday, and only God knows the hour. That is His business, not mine. My job is to do the very best I can to fight the good fight. I try to live like we have another 2000 years until that day comes, because that may be God's plan. I am ready if He returnes tomorrow, but I plan like we have another century or two. Keep your lamp trimmed, and your oil handy, but don't forget to pack a sandwich and some coffee. Savvy?
