Dillon Press with LEE powder measure

Didn't like the way IMR4895 went through the Dillon measure so I hooked up a LEE Perfect Powder Measure to work progressively. (all LEE catalog parts)

Thought I'd post as it might save some folks a few bucks and/or help them get more out of thier presses.

For high volume calibers I run the Dillon units, but for small batches these LEE units get the job done.

I think stick powders meter better through the LEE PPM.. but that's just me.

This makes perfect sense to me from an efficiency and cost stand point. However I think the Dillion Fanboys are going have you tried for Treason and Desecration of the sacred blue machine. IMHO [smilie=s:

Here's my PW Metalmatic II with a very old Dillon PM attached. Set up for precision loading .223's in volume.

Nothing that says you can't mix and match tool brands to achieve a desired result.

I agree wholeheartedly. I'm using a mix of Dillon, Lee and Hornady powder measures on top of my RCBS progressive.

Big Dillon fan here. USe 550 and 650. Do have tool heads set up for pistol loads using Lee Pro measures. They do work fine and cost a ton less than the DIllon which throw no better charges for consistency.

If I shot 100 yd loads in rifle calibers , I could perhaps go with Lee measures on a progressive press but for 300 and beyond: I go with single station Co Ax and I weigh each charge iwth a scale. I try to make the best ammo I can for distance shooting.

For 50 yd 45acp or 9mm work: the Dillon progressives and Lee Pro measure rock for me.

Sure, been doing it all my life, over 50 yrs. Started doing it with IPSC,
PPc and Bullseye competition.

Shoot 44 Mag Pistol at 100 yds all the time.

50 yds... only half a foot ball field, its really not distance at all. If you could
toss a football 50 yds (we did this as kids---- remember?), you can shoot pistols at
50 yds no sweat.

I shoot iron sights on rifles 100 to 1000 yds all the time at USMC Quantico base at the shooting club. If you or anyone here is near Quantico Virginia, I will host you to go shoot with me. [smilie=s:[smilie=s:[smilie=s:[smilie=s:

'Nother major Dillon fan here but, for handgun loads, I've used a Lee AutoDisc set up on my (upgraded) Dillon 450 since sometime back in the '80s.

Converted my Old Square "D" to use the Lee AutoDisk in 1988, has worked great ever since!

After trying a few different ways to charge Bullseye in my 45acp cases on my Piggy back 2. I found the best for me is the LEE Disk Pro.
I have the spring loaded set up. It came with the chain adapter, But I haven't figured out why any one would use it.

I do not use it for my flake powder loads. It is junk for that.
But it drops ball and extruded powders just fine.
