Other than replacing the spring again, how can I keep the seating die from falling apart? I'm tired of the seating plug/crimp ring falling out. If replacing the spring is the only answer, do they make an oversized one that will last more than a few thousand rounds?

Hornady is sending more springs. Maybe these will last more than 3000 rounds.

I never had the plug fall out but the die set came with extra spring clips. Maybe they know something we don't? Quite frankly I didn't see what the big deal is with the floating seater anyway. It's just another moving part to deal with and bullet seating was no different than other die brands. I ended up replacing the Hornady set with a Lyman set to get the multi expand die and extra seater.

I'm thinking I might machine a groove in the die body for a circlip. It would be a very simple operation. http://www.americanring.net/rings_retaining_overview.aspx

I see they fixed the problem with the Hornady taper crimp die. All the "innards" are loaded from the top and held in by the shelf.

drill out the ring hole and put a pop rivet in it.

The new spindle collar and springs arrived this morning. They finally sent something that seems to work well. If you take one of the staples used to close the bag, and push it through the hole, and give it a twist with some pliers, it will keep the seating collar/plug from falling out. IDK why I didn't think of that before. I should have just used some music wire to begin with. I'm not too crazy about that loose fitting zip spindle thing either.
