I'd give a wild-*** guess of just above 1300 -- but I've never shot a .32-20 and only used 2400 once, in .221 Fireball, most of thirty years ago.

1300fps would be my guess too. You'd do better with 4.5gr of Green Dot.

That's not terrible -- work up and down a little on the load, you might well find one that will cut a half inch or more off that group.

need to find a tang sight for this rifle (1889 marlin) so i can see the sights and target better

Shouldn't be hard to find a tang sight for a Marlin 1889. Best get a professional to do the drill and tap, though; as I recall the tang on that rifle is curved, not an easy thing to get the hole in just the right place with a drill press (if you have a milling machine, never mind...).

I presume the (readily available) ones for the 1895 (and 336) don't fit the 1889, but it appears the ones that fit a Marlin 1894 do -- Brownell's has a couple choices that fit the 1894 Marlin (don't forget to buy the screws separately).

8 grs of 2400 and a 95 gr boolit = 1405 fps
9 grs of 2400 and a 90 gr boolit = 1578 fps

would 14 grains of 1680 and 95 grain bullet be a better load?

I don't know about 1680, my best load is 8.5 gr AA9 with 115 FN cast for 1250 fps from my 1889's.

8.0 gr AA9 in 28" 1889 gave me 1232 fps with a 96 gr cast. 2400 should give about the same velocity. YMMV
