View Full Version : Cut new cavities in existing mold?

Sometimes my ideas work - sometimes they don't.

I've got an RCBS 30-150FN plainbase mold with one cavity that I lengthened the front driving band a little... and did a crappy job of it. I never shot that well in my '06 before the mod and it still doesn't.

So now, I've got a really nice set of RCBS mold blocks with two 30cal cavities and I'm wondering...

Anyone have a suggestion of who might be willing and able to cut two new cavities? I could us a good .452" 350gr GCFN for my .454. Tom at Accurate was kind enough to respond that it's possible except that his tooling is set up to hold larger blocks and new tooling to do one block wouldn't be cost effective. I don't have the confidence in my own skills to try on these nice blocks.

RCBS blocks are nominally 1.25" wide x 1.5" tall x 1.74" long with 0.575" between cavity centers.

Thanks!
