In 2000, I received a free Marocchi EXP 64 (Model SM64), semi auto take down 22LR for joining Waterfowler USA. It has been in the back of the safe, unfired for all these years. Decided it was about time, so I got a 2x7 Tasco off eBay for 7 bucks. Mounted the scope and took it to the range Saturday.

Several 5 shot groups, hand/elbow bench rest at 50 yds. The smallest group was 0.26 x 0.32. Believe I will be shooting the rifle more!

Sounds like a rabbit go-gitter to me. And from a takedown!
Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun.

Those are handy little guns but beware the trigger assembly is made of zinc and is prone to breaking. I have seen a few broken and had one the broke about 3 times. I ended up just throwing it away after taking the barrel off to keep and basically ruining the action so nobody could use it. I found a guy who sells the trigger groups (1 assembly) but they run about $60. You can buy a used marlin for $60 and have a better gun. Not bashing by no means but those things are junk. The trigger assembly I mean not the rifle.

Sounds like a case of treat trigger carefully. I don't know the rifle or even what type of action it is.If it is a semi auto, I'd be resisting playing machine guns or seeing how fast I could empty the mag which would be hard on the trigger assembly.

If I really liked the rifle, I'd go buy another trigger group, justtttttttttttt in case. Worst case scenario, you will end up with a barrel that can be put to use bringing an old clunker back to life down the track aways!

I would use the heck out of it and when it breaks, drown it in the river. Nothing lost whatsoever.

Can't ever beat a free rifle, and with cheap ammo at that.

I think quite a few of us have a forgotten rifle. Mine is a Mosin Nagant that I got for free when buying two cases of 7.62x54R ammo. I hear it whimpering on occasion, but just haven't gotten around to taking it to the range yet.

1/4x1/3 inch group sounds like a great little squirrel shooter to me!
What ammo were you using?
