I'm looking for suggestions if there is a different way to cast with this mold.
Lee 6 cavity 44 cal 240 grain non TL. I have NOES mold temp monitor. And on my pot I have a PID.
My pot is set at 705 deg. The spout freezup is about 680.
The mold starts to cut the sprue's easy at 360 deg. At 375 the bullets are free from surface flaws. At 385 to 400 deg everything runs smooth as silk. At 395 I start to get frosted bullets
The fly in the ointment is that I have to use Bruce B's mold cooling process twice for each pour. I fill the cavities break the sprue's immediately. hold the mold on the wet rag for a 6 count. drop the bullets. Put the mold back on the rag for another 6 count. Then fill the mold.
If I eliminate 1 of the mold coolings. The mold temp raises way above what is needed.
I don't rush my cycles but I go at a steady pace.
Does anyone have any suggestions on keeping the mold temp. lower.

I was having the same problem. I started alternating a mold. I rest one mold while I pour another. When you get the timing right it works great. Also, you can knock out 2 different boolit types at once.

Start to work your pot temp down and watch your mould temp.
You should be able to find a happy point with the pot temp that
will let you keep your blocks at a good usable temp.
I still use a small fan and find a comfortable pace.
"The spout freeze up is about 680" then give 690 a good try.
I have had great luck at as low as 640 - 650 with a dipper.

That thermometer can be a great help if you let it.
Happy casting

Thanks 500 mag I never thought about a dual mould pour.
Al your mold temp gauge has been wonderfull. I feel at a big diadvantage when I use a mold I haven't adapted to your meter. I just cant drill my brass molds though.

A small desk fan, set just right helps me too.
