i was looking in the Lyman 43rd Edition and saw a load using bullseye
for a 250gr cast boolit the start load was 4.gr of bullseye = 700fps
and 7gr = 950 fps for a max i dont see this load in my 48th Edition
is this a good load. i asked this on a thread for H110 but just thought that i
would start a new one

Using the Lee 214 SWC or a Lyman 429215 I use 8.0 of Bullseye--one very fine load. Accurate and "comfortable". I shoot in a Ruger Superblackhawk and a model 29. Can give you velocities if you like. Be sure to place charge cases in a reloading block and examine/verify no double charges...

I find that 6 gr of Bullseye under the 429421, 44-250-K or the TL430-240-SWC makes for a very pleasant to shoot and accurate 44 SPL load in 44 Magnums with magnum cases.

Bullseye is a good powder choice for mild loads in any modern revolver chambering (say, .38 Special and newer). You'll never get top velocities, but you'll minimize flash, keep noise out of the outrageous category, and keep recoil pleasant. Some claim there are modern powders (Bullseye is about 100 years old, now, though it changed significantly in the 1930s) that will do as well and burn cleaner, but the only undesirable I know of with Bullseye (beyond the need to scrupulously avoid double charges, in common with all of the fastest powders) is that it requires more cleanup than some.

I tried that once in my levergun in 44mag, according to my notes I used 5gr BE, bollit was the LEE 240gr SWCGC OAL 1.680. At 100yds I aimed about 6" high and lobed the boolit to the steel target, real pleasant to shoot that I remember. The 1 thing I don't remember is if I used a 44mag or spl case, and wouldn't you know it I didn't write it down either, but if I gave it a WAG I would say it was the mag case.

What barrel length SBH? I just picked one up yesterday, with a 7.5 barrel. It's my first .44, but I have plenty of Bullseye from my .38

I'm not sure BE has changed much form it's intro in the late 1800s. It's filthy stuff to shoot, almost looks like black powder going off under a lead bullet. No thanks. If I want midrange 44mag laods, Unique does everything I want. If I want light 750fps plinkers, I prefer RedDot, better bulk & cleaner burning. TrailBoss also has a good following but kind a pricey.

Ive used alot of BE and now Tightgroup for loads between 750 to 1,000 fps or so in 357,44 mag and 454 casull with excellent results with every cast bullet & gun i used it in .

I have used 5gr. B.E. in the .44 Mag with a 429-421 in my 1894 Marlin. It does well and recoil is nill.

5gr BE shoots very good from my 44's with 250-255gr boolits.
I think the speed was around 650fps, but not for sure.
I'd have to chrono again.

4 gr sounds awful light to me in a mag case, my manual puts something like 4.5 as the min in Special brass, i load 5.0x240 in Spl cases for a very fun load in my SBH. BE seems to burn no better or worse than my Unique loads, i don't notice any difference in the cases really, the double charge factor does bother me, as well as static driving me up the wall in my powder measure!

For light 44mag loads with 245-250 grain bullets, I use 6.0 gr Bullseye. Accuracy is great.
