I came across about 20 lbs of poured/lubbed .40 cal that I want to melt in the pot and make into .45 since I have no need for .40 cal. Do I need to remove the lube or can I put them in the pot as is?

This newbie thanks You!

Just put them in the pot. Good flux but it will smoke a lot at first. Do it outside.

+1, that's exactly what I do.

IF it was LLA, you'll have a ring around the pot, but it wil burn off eventually. I'd be tempted to run them through the smelting pot and flux the h*** out of them. Large quantities of LLA burning up ain't gonna smell like a rose to some folks!

Yes, a pot full will smoke like a chimney. Been there, done that so since i cast in the garage i just throw a handful on top of the pot when it is heating up the first time. Usually just pulled boolits that i've picked up at the ranges.

Use a heat gun to melt lube off and use the lube as flux.
