Is Commercail Shot good for making Boolits?? I have a 25lb bag. I no longer load shotshells.

i believe magnum shot is harder and good enough for boolits non magnum shot is softer , i would mix with coww's ( clip-on wheel weights )magnum shot if i remember correctly has some antimony should be good nuff for 357 mag velocity

Magnum shot composition depends on the shot size:
4% antimony (6 or 9)
6% antimony (7 - 8.5)
There is also about 1.25% arsenic in both of those and the balance is lead.

Chilled shot is typically 2% antimony, half the arsenic of magnum shot, and the rest is lead.

You probably have the 6% antimony magnum shot and that makes a great alloy for mixing with pure lead. You just need to get some tin and mix it according to your needs.

remington brand and lawrence both used 5% antimony in thier 7-8 1/2 shot sizes.
the older bags used to tell you how much antimony was in the shot some in big letters on front and some in little writing on the back.
if ya don't see nothin go by bumpo's numbers.
