If I wanted to shoot the Lyman 457122 in my New Model Blackhawk could I size it to .454 or .452 in the Lee Sizer? Which would you choose?

Swampman, slug the bore on your NMBH, as well as th cylinder throats. This will tell you what the boolit needs to be sized at.
I have read that a lot of Ruger owners have had to get the throats reamed on their handguns. The throats are too small for the groove diameter of their handguns.

I have a Bisley Blackhawk in 45 Colt (c. 1995) that I had to "finish building" by opening the throats to .453".

I use .454" boolits into those .453" throats that service the revolver's .452" groove diameter. Life is good. :)

I have used RCBS 45-325 boolits meant for the 45-70, which don't cast big enough for my rifle. I seat GCs and get a bit of lube in the grooves with a .459" H&I die, then run them through a .454" die to size and finish filling the loob gruves. The loob seems to relieve most of the sizing stress, and the boolits shoot well, from 900-1250 FPS. The GC is probably superfluous at the lower velocities/pressures.

if your throats will take it size to .454 if not size to .452 if your throats still don't take them open your throats to .4525 - .453
