I've ordered a check maker from Pat. He has a link to a copper foil source on one of his posts that notes .010 thickness.
Has anyone used this?
Has anyone noticed that copper works better than aluminium?
What would you suggest for making GCs for a .45 cal Lee with a gas check shank?
Thanks in advance.

The normal .45 bullet shank is .426. Take .014 X2 + .426 = .454 Size to .452 or larger. No thinner than .014 thick material. That Help?

Look at the post by edsmith "DIY check maker book" - has all of the dimensions you need.

You can twist Sagebrush7's math around and do this:

Desired sized diamer minus Shank diameter divided by 2 equals minmum check material thickness.
