Howdy.. I'm a new caster. Like today was my first attempt. :)

I bought a used single cavity mold for 405 grain 45-70 boolits.

Today I finally tried casting for the first time.. I got nice looking boolits right from the get go. Only problem I had was after about twenty nice looking boolits the pin that holds the handles on kept falling out :( and half the mold would fall off.

I tried holding the mold different ways when I opened it but sooner or later the pin would fall out again. Dang it!

Should I ping the end on the pin? After the sixth time I just shut my pot down and came in..

The mold is aluminum if that might make a difference.

Thanks for any help

i'm gonna guess lee single cavity.
a bit of j/b weld in the hole then the pin then some more weld should keep it in there.
pinging the hole over will do it too.
or buy a new roll [split type] pin at the hardware store for about 17 cents and replace the old pin.

Thanks Pard for the suggestions.. I figured it was a simple fix but I wanted to make sure.

I'll prolly be back asking more questions later :)
