Well it's my favorite in .38 Special. The mould is the Lee TL358-148-WC, 6 holer. This thing casts like a dream using 2 parts WW/1 part pure PB and a little 95% tin solder. You can go through a 20# pot of alloy quick. Boolits fall out of the mold with the lube grooves well filled out. There's no need to size them, they are .359 as is. I just tumble lube'm with either LLA or JPW. Load'm over 2.7 grains of Bullseye and start shooting. I shoot them out of 8 differant revolvers, Rugers, S&W, Taurii (plural for Taurus?), and Ubertis. They are accurate in each one of them, and they don't lead the bores. I've tried many differant designs of 148gr wadcutters and I think Lee's are the best. They are low-cost and make lots of boolits fast. I know some will disagree with me but in my opinion and my limited ability to be a world class competion shooter, Lee has a real winner in this design, both bullet and mould. I'm not on their payroll, I just love to cast, reload, shoot and collect guns. Thought I would share my warm fuzzy feelings with you all before I start casting today. Regards, Teddy. PS- How do get those little smiley things on your thread?

I feel the same way about the Lee 158 grain RNFP. I have a six cavity mold in that bullet and have yet to find a 38/357 that does not like that bullet. Mine drops the bullets at .359 dia and lately I've been going the JPW route also. Looking....lusting? after a Marlin Cowboy limited in .357 today. I think it will have to go on lay-a-way Friday. I also have the Lee wadcutter mold in a two cavity. Very easy to cast and accurate bullet although I haven't shot many wadcutters since the PPC days.

My favorite mold is an eight cavity H&G #68, only a few bad ones out of each batch of 500.

Yes, I must agree! The 148 wc is a great boolet for plunking.

..............As a matter of fact I just shot 50 of those Tuesday fooling around with a couple friends. Range was 25 yards, and the load was 3.0grs of W231. They'd been cast from scrap (bhn unknown) and seated out to, and crimped in the 3rd LG so they'd be in the chamber's forcing cone of my K-38.

My first 5 rounds offhand landed 2 in the X and 2 in the 10 with the last in the 8 ring. I'm really no pistol shooter and the other 3 deliberate groups weren't as good. Spent the rest of the ammo chasing a golf ball sized rock up and down the berm behind the targets :-)

And I can recall when Buckshot called them "steekin' peestols" and had no use for the things. Now he's a "Steekin' Peestoleer"!

Glad to get a good report on that mold, as I have been "eyeing" it for some time now. I am a died in the wool WC shooters from the head waters! I like to jack the velocity up to mid-range velocity (800-850 fps). Accuracy is just as good as the "kurplunk" target loads with more authority on the business end.

The mid-range wadcutters make a good field load for small game. The only downside to WCs, is accuracy goes to hell past 50 yards. But 50 yards is a fir piece for most pistol plinking and small game shooting.

The 150-160 grain RN bullet is the accuracy champ in the 38 Special, but not worth a hoot on critters.

I got my first Lee 6 cavity mold - the 148 TL WC - and I love it. I don't believe I've casted all these years without trying a Lee 6 cavity mold.

I agree! That is a great bullet. I use it with 2.5 gr. of Clays, super accurate plinker and cheap to shoot.

I agree 100% with the 148 gr w/c. It is great to shoot and fun to reload. I like K frame S&W's; I have an 8 3/8" that will cloverleaf them all day off a rest. Long live the 148 DEWC!!!!!

Hey Searcher1911. Here's my S&W K-38, 8.75 bbl. It was born in 1960, I'm the second owner. It's easily the most accurate 38 I own, especially with the Lee wadcutters.
