I've been playing around with my 303 and would like to hunt a bear with it. I have taken one with it using a J-Word, and now it's time to step it up. I'm tring to find a suitable load. I have 31141 bullets checked and ready. I need a good powder charge. Suggestions????

28.5 grs of 4895 and a tuft of filler between the powder and base of the boolit is gonna be hard to beat.
how does the nose fit your bbl?
i get just at 311 on the body with my alloy.

mine is running 313 I'm sizing @314. What do you use for filler? I went into the sewing dept at a local store today and was looking for dacron, and all they had was polyester. where do you find dacron?

the polyester fiber is the same stuff, it comes in bags and is used to stuff pillows and stuffed animals.
some use the quilting batting that comes in rolls and cut out squares.
some just pull it from a stuffed animal.
it usually takes about 1.5 grs to fill the case.
i like to weigh it,just to kepp every thing the same.

My 1/III needs a lot bigger boolit than my #311041 could ever produce. A Lee custom spitzer of 200 grains and .316" drive bands (cast as a soft-point) atop 30.0 grains of IMR-4320 shoots very well in homogenous 92/6/2 alloy.

This is the filler I used in my 06' cases. Worked just fine for me.

47194

I just pulled some off and weight out a "ball" of it.

The filler does raise pressures so start low and work up. I think 2 grs would be way too much. I am only using 1gr in my 7mm Rem Mag with 20grs of SR4759.
I did find out it makes a mess when fired thru a muzzle brake though! Kinda looks like my brake is leaking crude oil.

I know that 1 grain on top of 30 grains of 4895 in a 30-06 case is plenty of filler. But I don't know how it compares to the 303. I also noticed a different "flash" from my gun with the filler. I don't have a brake, but it does look different.
