I am enjoying my LH GSR but I have noticed hat the rear site is moved all the way to the right. I know that Ruger is notorious for over or under turning revolver barrels. Does Ruger have the same problems with rifle barrels? It's zeroed pretty well but I could stand to moved POI a little more to the right and the rear sight is out of travel.

Has anyone else noticed this problem with their GSR?

Its a little difficlut to tell if everything is lined up looking along down the barrel, but everything appears to be ok.

Got any other ideas?

Send it back and make 'em get it right. No excuse for sloppy assembly.

The rear sight is mounted on the receiver not the barrel.

I plan to shoot cast in it once I understand what mold will suite my needs the best. Mine isn't scoped and I don't plan on scoping it. Right now Its shooting with a couple loads 1"-1 1/2" groups with irons at 100yds and j-word projectiles.
I have a NECG rear sight on another Ruger rifle. They look nice and perform well but I don't think I'll be putting one on my GSR.

I've signed up for this mold GB for my GSR and Savage M11 in .308. Hopefully I can get it to shoot.

[QUOTE=excess650;1826459]There are a couple of other threads about the RGS. I would have different recommendations of boolits depending upon your purpose. The Lee 155 and 162gr 7.62x39 spitzers shoot well, but wouldn't be my choice for game. The RCBS 30-165-SIL and Lyman 311672 also shoot well, but neither has much of a meplat for game. The Lee C-309-150-F (160gr) should do OK, and the Ranch Dog with its wide meplat should work. QUOTE]

I can attest that these do work well with minimum load development and 2400 powder.

XS 650: how far out did you seat the 311299?

I seated mine in the top crimp groove and they function in the mag just fine,

OAL is very close to Factory 150 gr length, and the gas check is still in the neck.

I dunno.....seated out until the first band was kissing the leade. The 311644 was the same situation, so I just used lighter boolits. The RCBS 30-165-SIL works pretty well in addition to the Lee 7.62x39 boolits of both varieties.

I have a "group buy" clone of the 311041 with front band that measures .305, so can seat it out and keep the GC in the neck. It has enough meplat to hunt with so I'll try working up some loads with it.

WR, whats the weight of that 311299? Have you shot it in the Ruger GSR?

Excess, post the link to your group buy for the clone you mentioned please. Would that clone work well in the GSR?

XS: that's pretty far out and no wonder it wouldn't feed from the mag. The "correct" place is what you see in the pic with the case crimped in the top lube/crimp groove. Notice it is about the smae length as the 147gr FMJBT.

Lefty: the boolit runs 195-205 gr depending on the lead you use. mine are WW and are 201-3gr

Yes I have shot them in my GSR. They work just fine. SEE and compare pics above. The round on the left is a reloaded M80 ball round and the one on the right is 311299 with 21 gr of 5744. They're the same length but the 311299 is a bore rider style boolit so the nose portion is in the bore when fired. 1600-1700fps with that load.
