Good question. Where I live there is only one fun store and since he is a leupold dealer that is about all he sells. Here's my take on your question. One piece mounts take up some room above the magazine area on most rifles. But I do have some redfield jr's on some of my rifles. The weaver grand slam (steel) bases I had on my 40x single shot left me plenty of open space for reloading. I have a few rifles with the weaver grand slam bases and lately have come to prefer them over the one piece jobs. Maybe its just me but the rifle looks uncluttered with the two piece mounts. Confused ain't I?. Frank
