I just picked up a a bucket full of WWs from my tire guy today. I noted that almost 1/2 of the wts look like those "wonderful P.C." bright looking ZINC wts. It also had a llot of the glue on type that melted OK. Can anyone tell me how to tell for sure? The Zinc seems to ring when dropped on the cement. It doesn't take much to "*****" a pot of lead though.. Thanks, Mike

Easiest way I know is to keep your melt at around 650*F. Lead base WW melt just fine there. Anything that floats on this melt is zinc or steel and gets pulled out and thrown away. Also, alot of them have Zn stamped on them somewhere. Do not assume that just because they are shiny they are zinc. Sometimes they are lead that is painted to match aluminum rims. Good luck!!!

pumpguy is right. Zinc melts at 787 degrees so if you melt down your wheel weights at no more than 650 the zinc weights will float before they melt. They will melt if you leave them in there but they melt slower and will float first. If it's floating, get it out.

Very seriously dry. We have had ZERO rain in well over 2 months.

Where do you find a woman that will help you with your casting/reloading work. Around here, Missouri its hard to get one to clean fish...
