Where did you came across these toys Jim? I have been thinking a Ruger Hornet would be nice, and mabe someday go to the new .17 Hornet if i ever come into
some money.
Any one of those toys should make a guy very happy!

Thanks for sharing Jim. How are you doing with the .223 barrel and cast bullets so far? Last report looked promising if I remember correctly.

Cowboy, a friend gave them to me.

Firefly, 5 grains of Bullseye under a 55 gr. CB is great for plinking at 100 yds.

We all need friends like yours.

I predict you'll like all of them.

I had to remove the barrel band on my #3 Hornet to get it to group.

Hat appears to be some sort of new fangled sighting thingy. Not sure them new fangled kind are gonna last, they look sorta fragile.

I had to look at the lever gun a couple of times to figure it out. It is resting on a cartridge tray those full length gas checked, store bought boolits come in.

That 45-70 will give you a good wallop thru a contender.....

That 45-70 will give you a good wallop thru a contender.....

You remember how bad shootin' that 500 hurt my elbows? I've got two rifles to shoot full power loads through. I'm gonna load super lights for this barrel to have some fun with. I've got just a tad more sense than to try to shoot hot stuff through a contender with osteo artie in my hinges.

Jim great looking new things for you to play with. Jim the fact that you said a friend gave them to you says a LOT about you as a friend. Ofcourse we all knew you were that way anyway. VERY nice.

The .45-70 contender is a lot of fun and it gets lots of attention. You want to load some special loads for the macho men to try, just make sure you use a different Boolit or put them in nickle cases so you don't pick one up by mistake.

Actually, I've got an ad in 'Want to buy' looking for a double cavity .490 or .495 RB mold. I can push 'em through a .460 Lee sizer die and make ball-ets. It's easy and works great for super light loads.

So which one did you shoot first? Inquiring minds want to know.

Jim
08-26-2012, 10:55 PM
I shot the Marlin .32-20 first 'cause I had some factory ammo that came with it. The scope needs a bit of adjustment, but that's nothin' to fix.

I've started loading some Hornet ammo, but haven't had time to do much with it. Janet's been keepin' me kinda' busy, what with a two page list of 'honey do's'.

If I stuff 5 round balls in one case would that qualify as a five shooter?

Jim

Yeah, Hamish, it's real! I'm tellin' ya', the boy ain't got a grain o' sense shootin' somethin' like that.
