I had a friend tell me that John Ross was on TV and he was trying to get S&W to put out a special run of the 500 with a 5" barrel....Does anybody have any more info on these?

John Ross wrote "Unintended Consequences" for those of you who have not read it please do so...its a good thick book

I have a signed copy...well sort of..I met him at knob creek and he signed a 3x5 card for me which I put in the book.

I read the book when I was in high school...Got in trouble for the cover but left it on anyways :Fire:

I guess I’m the only one got one of those. I received it over a month ago. Super fine revolver. Yes $1395 is not cheap but lot less than Ruger conversions or Freedom Arms. I highly recommend it.

I didn't want to post a link then everybody would be buying them and I wouldnt be able to get myself one.

I havn't held one yet but I've shot the 500 before. So I see it in my mind as the same thing with a practical barrel length and twist.

A friend brought his custom shop 460 and a 4"(?) barrelled 500 to a shoot last winter. He didn't get too many takers to fire it, but I'm still 10 ft tall and Bullet Proof, so what the heck. I shot it rested over sand bag on my bench. Really it didn't kick anywhere near as bad as the 8 3/8's standard model I had shot in Texas.

Guess that short Barrel doesn't burn all the powder in the Barrel. I think my Raging Bull with full house loads kicks much worse.

Would like to see one in 5", should look and carry about right on the hip.

Good Shooting,

I went to knob creek this past weekend (Yeah I'm a belt fed junkie) and as usual John Ross was there. With the 3 examples of his fine pistols...and ammo as well...He let me run a cylinder through it. Now I gotta wait and see if I can get a new job and put one of these back before the end of the year. there is a stainless, black and two tone versions.

He had a black version? I mean ALL in black, including cylinder? If so, I have to get that one too!
