Looking at replacing the front sight on my Marlin CB with a fiber optic.
Any one using them? Do they help in poorer light, and what color? I already have a peep sight mounted.

I have one on every woods rifle I own and one on my 44 mag SBH. Red is my preferred color.

I prefer the bright green, I seem to see it better in dim light.

GREAT for dim light shooting!

I am with Bill. Green is my goto color for the front. I also have a set of Williams Fire SIghts on 3 other guns- muzzleloader, Rem 742 in '06 and a slug barrel for a 870. I find that the smaller diameter firesights' fiber optics are better for me than the tru-glos' that came on my puma 92.

I generally side with Bill, but this time I vote Red, not green. Last fall I had an extra 20 minutes hunting the canyon bottoms thanks to the improved sight visibility. I think very highly of them.

I've been using FO sights since they were first introduced, many years ago.

I hope the green works with YOUR particular vision/eyes, since everybody's color perception differs somewhat (some a LOT) - why some folks prefer one color over another.

The color of the FO sight seems to make little difference to the color-blind & partial color-blind folks.

I tend to agree that each person's color vision may be different.

One techy reason to support green is that green is dead center in the sun's light
spectrum (more light there) and also dead center in the average human eye
visible spectrum - funny how that works, huh? Not!

That said - you should try both out, preferrably in the dusk and with two rifles at the
same time.

I like the green also, The red seems to fade out faster for me.

I got a green one by mistake from brownells when I ordered some brass ones for my Rossi 92.

Turns out it fits pretty well on my 9422 instead, not sure if I like it more than the simple skinner post I had on before...

I favor these also on 3 leverguns. Can't beat them. :bigsmyl2:
