Hi Guys
As you can see in the picture this is what I have to work with the cast bullets are 115gr and on the bag are recommended up to 1400 fps . I would be happy with anyload that will give me about 1250 fps. and another soft load around 900fps to 1000fps this will be used for plinking
The rifle I am using is a savage 23c
The other bullet is a 85 gr xtp that will be used for hunting I was after a hot load for this projectile for hunting . I would only use a small amount of these per year

In the near future I will cast for this also and like the idea of making my own soft points as pointed out in another thread with soft lead and alloy lead poured in 2 casts. Thinking of a cast bullet 100gr or over and this will have to handle max velocity for hunting speed but then loaded for plinking most of the time , Think I will need a gas check?
When I do start to cast , other than the mould do I need a sizer and dose the sizer apply the gas check. What type of mould would suit my needs
Powder I have is AR 2205 = H4227 , trail boss , blue dot , universal
I have some lymans moly is this worth putting on the bullets????
I am sorry if any of these questions seem silly but think the forum would be the best place to get a sensible answer
Regards Boca

I would try somewhere in the 4.5 to 5.5 gr of Universal with the cast bullet. Should give 1200 to 1400 fps.
I can assure you that the 85 XTP can be shot fast enough to ensure very rapid expansion. I have had it over 2000 without difficulty.

I have found that the 32-20 Marlin shows more elevation variation with velocity differences than any other cartridge/rifle combination. I can get 2 feet of difference at 50 yards without any real difficulty.

9.0 gr of 2400 ought to get you where you want to be.

Since I am loading for a T/C Contender with a 10" barrel, 8.6 gr of 2400 would give me a velocity of about 1380 fps.
