With some mold manufacturers the mold number relates to bullet weight, with other manufacturers it refers to the number they assigned to the cherry used to cut the mold.

To my knowledge the 640 is another mold manufacturers designation for a bullet design, and as the mihec is a copy of that bullet design, he retained the 640 number. MP offers the 640 designation in several different calibers and weights.

Just as cartridge designations often are only vaguely close to the actual caliber of the round, mold designations are also often at best vague.

In this particular case the 640 refers to a nose style on a whole series of molds originally designed by 45 2.1. Most of the molds were first made in a group buy and cataloged by BRP but have recently been reproduced by MP.

dragon:

The top punch comes with an MP mold. It should be in the little plastic baggie with the wenches.
If you bought the molds used they may be missing in which case theperfessor can fix you up !
