Team.

For some reason Pyrodex has become very cheap (by our standards!) locally so I bought a pound for loading my 'BP' trap loads. Tried them last evening. My load is 75gr of RS by volume which is 55gr of ACTUAL weight under 1 1/8 oz of my home made #8 shot with wads to suit. When I did my bit the load with dusting the clays very well. No large pieces. The clay just evaporated. Really happy with them.

Jeff, now I would like that for my hammer sxs. What is Pyrodex pricing down south?

Are you using felt wadding and over powder cards?

$48 per pound though I got mine for $40 even.

Using a air wedge type wad, 1/2 felt and a shot cup from a regular wad.

Yes, welcome to my world of high prices and we pay nothing compared to those in the EU.

That NZD40.00 is the equivalent of USD32.00lb and that is cheap.

Man I though powder was high priced here! Pyrodex is made just down the road from me.

Mtgrs737 Could you send a few kilo's down under and call it Talcum Powder? I'll split it with Jeff..)

In NZ a pound of smokeless is cheap at $NZ45 - $NZ50. normal retail for average powder can be $65..

Jeff, not to steal your thread but I just got back a few minutes ago after trying out my new (to me) Husqvarna model 20 hammer gun. 2 1/2" black powder shells that I loaded by hand last night, 2 1/2 drams of FFG and 1 oz. of #6's. Whatta hoot! What's ironic is that there's a pound of Pyrodex sitting on my bench that I was afraid to use due to corrosion concerns, but maybe I'll try it now.

These little Husqvarnas are starting to show up here in the U.S. for some reason and are nicely made and pretty affordable.

Hard to believe after fifty years of shoving projectiles down rifled tubes, I've discovered a whole new excitement in the shooting sports. I guess a shotmaker is next. *sigh*

Yes, that is affordable. Lucky you..

Take a look a this: http://www.hw-hunt.fi/kategoria/6/ruuti
( local importer of Hodgdon).
Pyrodex 60 eur = USD 75

Same time in Sweden: http://www.staffansvapen.se/handladdning/krut/hodgdon/svartkrut/index.html
Pyrodex 335 kr = USD 50

Maybe it is time to make weekend trip to Sweden..
