I'm looking for a good range of bullets to run through my Japanise made Winchester 1886 in .45-70. I only shoot black powder. I will deer hunt with it and do some target work as well. I have a 330gr HP Gould mould. Not sure on lead/tin ratio for it. I am also thinking about a 350, 405, or 420gr flat points as well. Any experience out her with what weight would be best suted for this type of rifle.

If the Gould will shoot well, it will be tough to beat for deer. However, since you intend to use Black Powder, I would look to 400+ weight boolits to get a more positive powder burning characteristics and thus less fouling. The Lyman 457193 is a fine choice for what you intend. It has both a good sized meplat and generous lube grooves for keeping that fouling controlled.

My 457193's cast of 40:1 weigh 420gr. With a 65gr charge of Goex Cartridge Grade, it is not unpleasant to shoot, but packs a serious whallop downrange.
