Guys,

I've only been here for less than a year, but I have to say that I search these two guys posts when I need some serious casting info. If it wasn't for these two guys, I might have have completely given up on casting. For info on hunting alloys, or sizing or lubing, mold choices, etc, these guys are the ultimate wealth if information. Please give them some considerations.

Aye! Both are very deserving of the award, when I want facts these are a couple of the best sources here.

Hopefully a moderator will remove the other thread. As long as the legs don't belong to Lamar himself, wow that just gave me shivers up the spine![smilie=l:

Yep, the legs were quite shapely! Too bad the avatar was so small.

I agree, Larry and R5R are very deserving of the awards.

All for it, for both candidates!

Let's hope neither one gets banned a year after receiving it, though.

I don't know Larry personally but his advice is always good & I've never seen anything I could really disagree with, he know his stuff. Lamar I've known for quite a while, I think he would prefer lead over gold & I know for a fact that he puts bullet lube on his cereal just to see if it smokes! He does more experiments with lead alloys & bullet lube than a rocket scientist.

i don't know what to say, really, i do appreciate the nomination.
i ain't so sure i am worthy, considering the amount of others that have more experience and the capability to explain things better and in greater detail.

thanks for the kind words gentlemen.

No one here is "God" but Lamar and Larry have terrific powers of observation and share that knowledge quite willingly, and not fussing about it (most of the time ).

I am honored to call both of them friends and consider both of them mentors.

Although I am a pretty "new" Member (lurker for a few years), I too have gleaned a lot from these two and I know a thing or two myself reloading for 25 years or so....

So, both absolutely FULL of knowledge, willing to share their information(!), open & honest AND humble? Absolutely YES from me on both counts, for what that's worth!

We may need to wait until after new years, I think we have run into our quota limit this year. I can think of a bunch more who are also deserving!

There's not much better for a newb like me to see Larry or several other of the really experienced guys here (Dale53 is another personal favorite) chime in on one of my questions.

I still don't know very much, but everything I know I can credit to the guys here for their ideas/ encouragement to try something different.

The amount of knowledge these fine gentlemen bring to the forum and the patience they show with idiots like me cannot be measured.

Well, I agree with Waksupi, There are many here that are heavy contributors and what they say is worth listening to. Some have less than 1000 posts too.
I have to admit though, what R5R did with Gear on "the quest" was an admirable ammount of work and scientific experimentation.
Also, the first cast iron boolit mold that I bought (the rest have been passed down to me by my father) was the RCBS 35-200-FN because Larry Gibson gave me 100 of them in a nice blue box (that I still use by the way) already lubed and properly sized. Its now my favorite boolit.
While I agree that these two fine individuals are deserving of a nomination I also think there are others that should be considered and may be way past due in all areas.
For instance, 303 guy is a member that has poured his heart and soul into this sight and has posted more pictures of his experiments with paper patched boolits than anybody. If somebody comes here looking for advice in that area, he's there holding the fort and explaining things in a way that even a child can understand, with the patience of Methuselah. I would have glossed right over castboolits.com had it not been for 303guys information that I ran across in google search after google search. If you do a google search for smokless paper patching, you will wind up on cast boolits reading 303guys posts. He's a pillar.
All three of these gents would probably just as soon stay out of the spotlight, but they all deserve this.
Its up to the moderators and Ken. I say yes to R5R and Larry and I add a nomination for 303guy with a very firm yes behind his name as well.

I would have to agree to add 303 guy, the info he passed to me on the infamous Savage #4 Mk 3 , both barrels that I have used on it, have allowed me to find the joy of all of the lead down range and none in the barrel.

I fully endorse Larry Gibson for consideration as a recipient of the award. He has made more than significant contribution to this forum in many ways. He has on many occasions presented valuable research in the 6.5 and 30 cal. realm that has been of great interest and benefit to many members of this forum. LLS
