here is my 35rem rimmed contender and it's results  i know it's not a "lever gun" but i'm just wondering what loads(cast and jacketed) youins like best in the caliber.
i shoot a fairly stout charge of H322 with the 180gr hornady ssp in this. i make a rimmed version of the case by trimming 303 british brass and fireforming to shape.
this has become a favorite caliber of mine due to it's versatility.[smilie=w:

Glad you like it Lloyd. I'm really surprised that the Hornady 180 SSP bullet doesn't get more press than it does. It is one fine bullet! Not just in the Contender, but also in the Remington Model 8 (too pointy for leverguns though).

yes....that is a very nice article. i was really surprised at this quote from it about the 180gr hornady ssp.

A little load development revealed that this fine bullet loaded on top of 39.5 grains of H322

that is the same charge i decided on in my 14" contender a couple yrs er more ago....n i' had never read that article before
only difference is in the primer and i use plain ol WLR.....and of course it is in reformed 303 british cases.
kinnda gives me a lil confidence in my reloading choices....lol
