Alliant Reloder 7

I've found that Reloder 7 is a great cast boolit powder........at least in the .250 Savage. It meters very well thru my Dillon 450 powder measure. The other day I went to a local Coeur d'Alene, Id. sporting goods store, and while they had every other "flavor" of Alliant powder, they were out of Rel 7, and did not know if it was going to be available again. I contacted Alliant and they assured me that it is still being manufactured and should be available.

I just got some here at Sportsman Warehouse. I use it also in 45-70 with cast bullets.

It's a recommended powder for .45-70 and 7.62X39 (AK-47). I use it in both.

What was your load? I like Alliant propellants and tried RL7. Worked OK but seemed position sensative.

Over in"Castpics" someone entered a load for a .357 Magnum,RCBS 358/180 Sil boolit. The load was 16 to 19 Gr of Reloader. I tried the Re 7,16 and 17 gr. The 18 gr was a little stout and the 19 gr was quite stout. This is from a Ruger 77/357 rifle. Use caution as always.

And it's an accuracy powder used by benchresters in the smaller capacity cases. I use it in medium throttle 45/70, and some .223 (with J words in the .223)

I've used Reloader #7 for years in my SKS rifles for J bullet loads in all bullet weights,it's readily available about anywhere around here. I also use it in my Yugoslavian SKS cast bullet loads. Alliant 2400 works great in my Chinese but gives me irregular cycling in the Yugo so I just worked up a load using RX7 that was just as accurate and cycles the rifle with no issue.

I plan on trying the RX7 in some other cast loads at some point always good to have a couple powder/load options.

Reloader No.7 is the best powder for 30 cal cast bullets. I use it for 30-30 Win, 7.5x55 Swiss, and 30-06 Springfield. It burns clean, fills half of the case and meters like suger. I tried to make practice loads with it for my AR15 service rifle with 75gr. Hornady bullets. It shot well but would not cycle the action even at the maximum listed loads. It burns too fast for the AR15 gas system. It should work well in any 223 Rem bolt rifle.

RL7 is THE powder for 7.62x39 with 155-170gr boolits. It's the fastest powder that can fill the case >90% of capacity without hitting the pressure ceiling. This fact is especially important with these short 16" barrels.

probably my most used powder in lever guns.
me too. it is always the most accurate cast bullet powder in my .30 cal rifles, 30-40, 30WCF, 300 Savage, 303 Brit. I also use it in the 45/70, 35 Rem & 358 WCF. I buy it 5# at a time.

i've only used it in 3 calibers and accuracy and velocity were near or best in all.

Although a little sooty, it's accurate in my .300 Savage with 165 grain boolits.

Burned several pounds of it in .35 Remington. Cast or j-wart, it always does the job.

Found it a touch too slow for .357 Max in a 12" barrel Contender.

REL7 is what i use in my service rifle it shoots fine with the hornady 223 68gr fmjhp, burned a couple of pounds through it with no problems.
