I have a winchester mod. 70,and the scope is mounted with a leopold or redfield one piece mount and rings( dovetail). i'm changing the scope and messedup the screw heads getting them out, everything was locktited. I would like to know what size the base screws and windage threads are so i can chase the screwholes with a tap. any help would be appreciated....................mister c.Thankyou

I believe this to be true because,
The Burris, Leupold bases are copies of the original design from Redfield.

Pre-1981 Redfield ring screws are 5-44.

Why don't you ask Leupold?
Even when copying, they can make whatever changes they want.

Recently one Canadian company ran a second batch of their Rem 870 clones fed from a box magazine.
The first batch had stock screws for a flat screwdriver, just like Rem 870, but the new batch came with socket head screws. There is no more respect to the standards.
