Hey guys. I need to figure out if the drum and metering screw I have for my RCBS Uniflow is the large or small one. The inside diameter of the powder chamber of the drum is .501, the outside diameter of the plunger end of the metering screw is .495. Which one do I have? Thanks!

Can you load a 30-06 with one throw? If so, you have the large drum. ... felix

Probably, I've only used it to throw .38 Specials so far.

Yup, you have the small one. Great for handgun sized drops.

I use the small drum for everything from 9mm to 30/06. I don't do max loads, but they do go bang and kill paper targets. Before you go buy a large drum try dropping a rifle charge with your small drum. Depending on the powders you use you may only need a small drum. Should note that my uniflow is 40 =/- yrs old. Got smoother and more accurate with age.

Thanks. Now just how small of charge can it throw with consistency? I use alo of 2-3 grain charges in my .32's.

Mine will throw down to 2 grains accurately.

I've used mine almost exclusively on my 1980's something RCBS Auto 4X4.
I tried setting it up to load 30-06, but felt it was too much for the press. So it's dedicated to pistol only and 45 ACP now.
(I drop the 30-06 loads from a Redding powder measure now.)

Funny story:
Somehow the larger drum got assembled with the smaller adjuster.
The throw checks were all over the place and wouldn't adjust.
Eventually it dawned on me I needed to find the proper adjuster screw for the drum.
Still laughing at myself over that bungle in the jungle...

I load as low as 3.0 gr of Bullseye with mine, and it throws it consistently.

+1 (+2?)

Been there, done that on both of these.
