I did find a zinc one recently that was the size of a small sausage, maybe 3/4 inch diameter and about 5 inches long. I was bummed it wasn't lead.

The biggest lead ones I've seen are those truck weights, about the same diameter as regular but about 7 or 8 inches long. I call them "licorice sticks."

I don't know what they're made of, but they just put new shiny silver ones on my bus that struck me to be about as big as a hot dog frank! 'Prolly not even lead anymore, but they did catch my eye immediately. I wasn't thinking "weight", I was thinking.... there's 30-40 boolits! 8-)

A buddy called and said he had me some wheel weights . I told him to bring them over and we would have a beer. He set a bucket in the garage and came in and we had a couple of beers. Today looked to see what he brought , it was a five gal bucket ½ to ¾ full. The weight on the top left was 16oz. Biggest thing I’ve seen.

Still searching for a 16 oz. one so Roosters has me beat! I had a whole bucket of these, 120 lbs. of Lead truck weights with no Zinc or steel. Greatest bucket I ever got!

Roosters: I think the one on the far right side of your photo is a Zinc weight, better check it!

I can't believe you guys haven't melted those big ones down yet. Last year I got one that was huge. Must have been off a road grader or perhaps a quarry truck. Melted it down and cast it into ingots. Then I cast those ingots into boolits. As I recall I got about 3,000 .45 boolits out of that one tire weight. But then I shot them all up so I don't have a picture. True story![smilie=l:

Biggest balancing weight I have found so far is 16 oz. truck tire weight. Now if you count wheel traction or counter balance weights, then that is a different story.

The guy who gave me that bucket is a mechanic for Caterpillar. He didn’t say where he got them. The one 16oz in the picture was the only one that big. Most of the rest were 6,8,& 10oz that’s still big ! 16oz weight ?? For square tires ??? Told him this weekend steaks and cold beer. . . :drinks: Also made sure he’s on my Christmas Card list !! Nice one zomby, that one looks like a 16 . . . I took pictures because the one I have is hitting the pot when it cools off a little.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to have a whole bucket of those 10 to 14 ouncers!

Fishman:

That is a p h o t o g r a p h, not the actual wheel weight on the screen. It would be safe to assume that they were melted down at some point after the photo was taken!

Just messing around, but you get the point! They are all ingots or cast bullets now, like good lead should be.
