Dillon strong mount for swaging??

I use a Richard Corbin Walnut Hill for swaging. My bench is 2in thick and designed to work sitting because I cannot stand for long periods of time. The end of the press handle is 10in from the floor at the top of the stroke. I need to raise the press up for more comfortable operation. Is the Dillon strong mount sturdy enough for this? Has anyone here used it for swaging? I have some 1/8 steel plate about 6in wide & 18in long. I might be able to fabricate my own. I'll post a pic of the press set up.

the strong mount is two halves you bolt the press to them and then bolt the press down.
if you have a length of 1/4" steel you'll be ahead of the strong mount.
you could add some gussets in places where it flexes,and double up on the top.

After ripping the edge off of my bench with my swaging press, I decided to make a custom mount, to better distribute the leverage forces. I used a piece of 5" wide steel plate, 8 inches long. And, welded that to the legs of some 1.5" angle iron.

drilled holes in the right places, and now my press is well supported. the Dillon strong mount is too tall and flimsy for swaging, my opinion.

I kind of thought so. I will fabricate my own and it won't be quite as high as the Dillon.

I bought a piece of sheet metal 1/8" x10"x24" and took it too a sheet metal air conditioning shop and had it bent. They charged me 30 dollars to bend two of them and they work great. I have a set of 243 dies from RCE.

Somthing to consider........... Instead of mounting it vertical, mount it horizontal on the bench. That is what I did with the Sea Girt press. Then the handle is not so low and the bullets will fall out of the press into a simple bucket placed in the right spot on the table.

If RCE would have given up just a little travel of the ram he could have mounted the handle 90 degrees less then what it is allready, then we would not have to reach to the floor to complete the stroke.

I'll have to get a pick of my horizontal mounted Sea Girt soon.
