In another thread, I mentioned recently aquiring an old Stevens model 15-A. This rifle has the 24" barrel, plastic butt plate and no serial number. From what I can tell researching the history of these rifles, this one was made between '48 when they went to 24" barrels and '63 when they started stamping serial numbers on them.

If anyone can shed some more light on this, I'd appreciate it.

Dang, but it's a fun little rifle to shoot and accurate as all get out, considering how crude the sights are.

1st introduced in 1937.

Intended as an inexpensive "boys rifle", the early models had 22" barrel, crude stock w/simple cresent cut butt and no buttplate.

In 1948 stocks were redesigned (now w/Buttplate) and barrel lenghtened to 24".

Production ended in 1965.

I have on that must be a '48 as it has no buttplate and a 24" barrel.
They are very accurate for a cheap rifle.
