I can't see them making the mistake of substituteing that for 8x86R by mistake. I got all excited for a minute until I realized both a new bolthead and extractor among God knows what magazine parts would need changing. And they'd all be made out of unobtainium anyway :-(

It would almost be worth a call to see what the specs are and if it's a misprint.

Isn't there a Dutch Steyr 95 that was originally made in this cartridge. A turnbolt Mannlicher design not unlike the Carcano.

I seem to recall that the Volkstrum was issue sizeable numbers of these 6.5mm Dutch carbines and rifles. Many also wound up in South East Asia (Dutch Colonies). Didn't the Malaysians convert a number of them to .303? I believe they only bored out the old barrels; the two cartridges were similar enough no more was needed. Seen some photos of cases fired out of the conversions that have stepped necks.

I had a chance to buy a converted Dutch Mannlicher when Springfield Sporters still sold rifles out of their showroom. I passed, not knowing that 7.7mm was the .303 British. At the time, I thought they had converted them to 7.7mm Japanese. Oh well.

The Dutch design also needs hard to find Mannlicher clips.

Does anybody have the specs for the barrel shank for the M95 Styer? thread pitch, diameter and shank length??

It seems like I heard someplace that the barrels could fit another action. I just don't remember which one.

im not familiar with the 6.5x54r. i wonder if there talking a 7.62x54r wildcat. i have a m95 steyr i changed to 7.62x54r. i used a springfield barrel and didnt change the mag or bolt. the barrel of course had to be cut and re-threaded and re-chambered. i have the thread sizes someplace. it wasnt a hard thread to cut, and it was a standard pitch. i have alot of m95 steyrs. i also have a m95 dutch carbine. gunparts had the clips and i make the brass from 303.-phil:Fire:

Thanks Phil, I was wondering if it might fit on another action or not. I've been compileing a list of different gun barrel dimensions. Here it is below. I don't think the tabbed format will transfer well, but I'm sure you guys will figure it out.
A thought that just popped in, it looks like Winchester M70 or Ruger takeoff barrels might fit the Mosin Nagant. They are all about 1x16. I don't know how long the shanks are though.

Weren't the 6.5x53R and the 6.5x54 (rimless) vurtually the same round except for the rim? I have always seen the Dutch ctg listed as 6.5x53R. I believe most of the "manlnichers" were of the rimmed 53 mm variety on the typical split-bridge forward-bolt-handle action.
