Hey guys,
I have cast hollow points using the Lyman hp molds and the Mihec cramer style hp molds.
I really like the way that Mihec mold drops the HP bullets. In the Mihec mold I have the bullets just fall out of the mold. I am looking at getting a NOE RG mold and was wondering how the NOE RG method compares with Cramer style Mihec method?
Thanks, jmsj

I have and regularly use both types of molds. Both are absolute top quality.

I have both. I would lean towards the Mihec style, just easier for my to get working right.

I have and use several of each. They both work great, with a very slight edge going to Mihec.

I don't have any NOE moulds (yet!) But I did buy a MP 4 cavity for the SAA 270gr. I wanted a 2 cavity and wish I had held out. This mould is HEAVY. The other complaint I have is the HP pins; When I flip them over, the HP pins stick out the bottom so that I can't use the mould guide. That wouldn't have been a problem on a lighter 2 cavity. I solved the problem by taking the spare set of penta pins and loping them off. I now have a flat/solid nose bullet mould without the pins sticking down. Other than that it is a nice mould

I have both and really like the NOE design, it works well for me.

I have cast with 3 different NOE RG design HP molds, and to be honest there is a learning curve to them...and I'll add that larger boolits do better at maintaining mold heat...which is key to ease of operation and boolit release.

I have only used one Mihec (brass) HP mold (in 40 cal), after learning that the HP pins/guides need to be slightly loose..."free" maybe a better word for it, instead of "tight".

So they both have their tricks and once you figure them out, either will be a pleasure to cast with.

I have both and think they are even both drop boolts easy I can't really see any advantage one would have over the other. FB

Thanks guys for the replies.
I am glad that NOE works well. Having heard about the NOE quality, I figured they probably worked real well but I just hadn't heard.
Thanks, jmsj

Not to disparage Mi-Hec, but Swede is about twelve or thirteen thousand miles closer if I have an issue. I can drive to his place from SW Idaho in about five hours (at the speed limit!) if I have an issue, or just call him on the phone.

I guess I am just one of those crusty curmudgeons that likes that little tag that says "Made in the USA". Aside from that, one is likely as good as the other.

I tend toward the MiHec cramer style. All though I have made a pile of bullets with my NOE 360429 HP.

I have and use both and they each have different learning curves but both work extremely well.

I have a slight operational preference for the RG method over the Crammer.
