View Full Version : 32 s&w
Just loaded 12 32 S&W what a pain in the butt. Loaded some of the longs and that was bad enough. But those little shorts are small.

I cast 313249 and load several hundred 32 S&W every year. Great cartridge and a fine piece of history. I don't load black powder but the smokeless rounds are accurate and very rewarding to shoot in my old Colts and solid frame Smiffs. I never noticed that they were difficult to load, I'll pay closer attention next time and maybe I'll catch on to the discouragement factor.
What do you have for dies? That's most of my trouble. I have and old set of Pacific for the 32 S&W long. They don't bell the mouth on either case. I used a LEE expander die. Didn't mean to sound that negative, any reloading is fun if you have the right tools. I just don't right now

I noticed the same problem when I started with 32 Long dies. They would not get close enough to expand properly or seat/crimp properly. I considered cutting the die body shorter and then just went and bought a set of Lee dies specifically for the 32 S&W. End of problems.
My 32 Long dies work for Long, Magnum and 327, but the 32 S&W is too short.
Guesser is right, get the correct dies. Many of the older dies are marked .32 S&W but in fact are for the long version. With everything working correctly other than possibly pinching a finger if you get in a hurry, they are no more trouble than anything else.
Once you get used to handling the smaller cases, then the .25 Auto or even the 17 Flea is not a problem.

My Lee sizing and seating .32 Auto dies work for the .32 S&W perfectly but the flare die is too short. I use the universal expanding die for them. I love the .32 S&W Long with handloads, great cartridge!!
What powder do you guys use?

I use Titegroup in all my .32's.

I'm with Fregusun on this one, I load a lot of Tite-group in my .32's. I wish it was a bit bulkier, but it shoots clean and is extremely consistent in my guns...
