I just started reloading earlier this year. One of the things I wanted to accomplish was a 90gn load for my 270 Rem 7600.. With the 130gn Noslers and 59.3 Gns of h4831sc I am getting 5/8 inch groups at 100 yards. The best I got with the 90gn bullets was about an 1-1/4" at 100 yards. Now I loaded them to match the trajectory of the 130's so I could switch loads and have the same poi at 100 yards.

The best group from the 90gn (with h4831) bullets came from 60.7gns, roughly 3200fps. I was expecting much better accuracy. I tried some winchester 760 powder, with regular primers and with magnum primers. The magnum primers shot a little better, but both had groups over 2". I loaded up a couple to just under max charge with mag primers and regular primers with the 760 just to see if it will make any difference with the velocity increase.

If anyone has any ideas of a load please fill me in. I would like to use these for coyotes.

I'm confused. Are any of those cast boolits?

I gave up on the 90's . Had much better results with the Speer 100 JHP. and the 110 grain V-Max by Hornady. not many options with cast. SAECO MAKES A 140 GRAIN MOLD and RCBS makes a 150..It's a shame that a popular caliber like the 270 doesn't have more mold's available. Any group buys for a 100 grain 278 mold?

Sorry, they are all jacketed bullets.

I am kinda hesitant about shooting cast out of that gun. I have done a lot to it since I got it to make it a fairly accurate gun. I hear guys all the time telling me that pumps are not accurate, but when we go to the range none of the bolt guns they have seem to outshoot my pump

I had considered trying the 85 grain all copper bullets... expensive though. Maybe I'll continue to try some things, I do have almost a whole box left.

These are the speer 90 hps. What loads did you use with the 100 grain?

I use H4350 with the data from Hogden http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp.

That's probably just how they are going to shoot. I’ve used the Sierra 90gr HP since back in the seventies. Not shot any since I bought a 243 Win. They were just as accurate as the heavy bullets and more so than the Sierra 150gr SBT.

I buy and shoot Speer bullets in 50 and 55 grain 22 caliber and 6mm 85gr sbt for the game bullets. Not as accurate as plastic tipped or HP match bullets but they are economical and built tuff to give good performance on game. I’ve shot with men using TNT’s on prairie dogs. They did not shoot as accurate as Sierras or Hornady’s.

I use AA 2700 with a load listed from Accurate Powders . with the 90gr Sierra was getting 1 inch groups. From a older Model Savage 110 bolt action

I know this is a little late, but I loaded some 90 gr Sierra HP's for my FN Mauser 270 and got excellent accuracy with IMR 3031. The velocity was about 3600 fps and 5 shots could be covered with a nickle! This rifle usually will shoot almost anything in an inch or less.
