I did the search here, I did the Google, found a sheet on safety, and no indication of 50% what and 50% what? I know I'm far from good a searches, but everything I found (except Tara's blog) had to do with the spool solder and their lead free solder.

I have no idea how old this is, I was just given two bars of it.

Any ideas?

50% Tin with 50% lead has always bee what 50/50 solder is, be it in stick or on a roll.Robert

I was curious because their rolls of Silvasolder have no silver in it!

Melt it, see what happens.
Pay attention to the melting point temp and phase as it hardens.

Not acquainted with the term "Taramet". What I've heard called "Taracorp" alloy is 92/6/2, or 50/50 Linotype and unalloyed lead. Don't know if this is helpful, or not.

The company Taramet is in North Carolina. I probably ought just to call them.

50% Lead (Pb), 50% Tin (Sn)

I would be pretty confident that it is standard 50/50 Lead/Tin solder.
