Anyone ever try Turtle Wax for 45/45/10??
I love this lube but cooking off the petro products is a pain and I'd like to find something to use which is like JPW but does not require reducing.

Pretty much any wax that is applied that way is going to contain solvents. Those solvents need to be removed.
Give it a shot or just use JPW and get good results. recluse spent lots of time and energy testing different things, this was the one that won. Good enough for me.

I used Turtle Wax and LLA 15 or more years ago, long before this forum. Either leave the can open in the direct sun for a few days or melt it in a saucepan (LOW heat!!) and simmer the water and aliphatic solvents out of it. Basically use it just like JPW in Recluse's recipe, but cook the TW and LLA together for a while after you add the LLA to "homogenize" the mix and drive off some of hte solvents in the LLA, too. Cool the stuff to about 120F and add enough mineral spirits to make it like 30-wt engine oil at room temperature.
