red dot 454

Has anyone mounted a red dot sight on a 454 SRH? I am thinking about doing this for varmint hunting and wondered if anyone has any advice on the least expensive red dot that would stand up to the recoil.

the ultra-dot is working well on my 454 casull.having a lot of fun shooting one inch groups now at 50 yards using the rcbs 300 grain GC over 14.2 grains HS-6 and federal match primers.the more I shoot 454 casull the more I am liking it.this load matches 44 mag loads and it isn't even close to what it can do.I've got up to 1780 fps with lil gun and this bullet and inch and a half groups but almost get hit in the noggin so sticking with the mid-load till hunting season.you will like the ultra dot.its seems pretty much like my aimpoint and a lot less money.rings weren't perfect but you can get warne rings later if you want.mine were a tad off but holding tight.got a weigand mount between it and my model 83 and lots better than lining up iron sights.

Most of the quality red dots are 30mm, Ruger offers 30mm rings on their online store @ $80.00+.

Jack Weigand offers a weaver conversion that clamps to the Ruger cuts for the 454's

I have 2 of the 454's and keep Leupold 4x's on them both now having already trashed two lesser scopes.

I've got an Ultradot mounted on the slide of my 1911 auto. It's gone back and forth with the slide for the past 5-6k rounds with no problems and holds the zero just fine. They are pretty tough critters!

99.99999% odds the rings that were shipped with your gun are 1", not 30mm.

Then the rings that came with it would fit an Ultra 25?

The Ultra Dot 4 is offered in a 1" and 30mm. 25mm is not 1"

25 millimeters = 0.984251969 inch You could probably use sticky tape to shim it but why when the -4 is a true 1".

I think the ultradot is a 1" tube with a 25MM lense in it.
