I recently acquired a star sizer at an estate auction. I have had a Lyman 450 for 30 years that an uncle gave me. I am considering selling the 450. Currently I only do a couple of pistole calibers. Are there any good reasons that I should keep both?

Thanks for the input.

I use my Star as a production sizing press and basically keep it set up for .358. I use my 4500 for my low volume runs.

+1 for what Lefty said. I have 4 Stars, a Pitzer, and a Lyman 4500. I use them all for different purposes. Stars and the Pitzer for high volume pistol caliber runs, and the Lyman for low volume and rifle lube-sizing.

If you are not hurting for money, it might be a good idea to hang on to both of them. I guess it come down to what your needs are. Remember, if you sell your Lyman, you'll have to buy a bunch of Star dies to cover the calibers you currently lube-size.

On the money!
I sold numerous 45's and 450's a couple years back to gain a new Star. I use it for all of my high volume pistol rounds.

I kept my RCBS LAM for rifle sizing and gas checking.

Thanks for the input guys. Looks like I will probably be keeping the 450. I was going to use the money from it to buy the couple of sizing dies that I needed for the star.

I've got 5 Star sizers, 2 Saeco sizers, 1 Lyman 450 Sizer and 1 RCBS sizer. I find uses for all of them. I also use some different lubes for different applications and I'm able to leave a sizer set up for each of the lubes without having to change them back and forth.

Hope this helps.

Can you ever have enough good quality sizers ?
I say "NO, you can't !"
Keep that 450

Keep the 450. If you are like most of us you will expand your cast bullet shooting to include small batches for rifles. The 450 works very well for that. Besides, your Uncle wanted you to have it.

If you sell it, I'd try to buy it for the same reasons stated above. Just my thoughts.

Going to keep it. Wife is not going to like that. I guess it is time to re arrange the garage again.

Thanks.

I have Star for production and keep my 450 and RCBS for special lower production runs with different lubes
