Have had a 226 for years, just accquired a 228. I like the " fit" of the 228 better than the 226 though shoot the 226 well. Anybody else have both models and their thoughts?

Never owned either of those models. But I have owned a P220 (Transitional, new Railed frame with old folded slide), P220 Carry SAO (New milled slide), P245 and P225. I never saw a huge difference in fit/finish, but never got used to milled stainless slide. Seemed top heavy to me, even with the 1/2" shorter slide.

They have all moved on except for the P220 with the milled slide now. I do miss the P225 though, but that is the only one.

I've a 220 and a P6--like em both. I've shot both the 226 and 229 in 9mm and like you, I prefer the smaller pistol. The 226 is just a shade ungainly in my hands, while the 229 seems to be more friendly. Though I have to admit the 226 I shot was more accurate in my hands than the 229 was.
The slim line P6 fits my hand better, and at $349.00 I think it was a steal.

I have Sigs 239,229,and 226, all in .40S&W.
I shoot the 239 best but it is the least comfortable of the three.
If I had to pick just one, it would be the 229.
The 229 conceals as easily as the 239 and is as accurate as the 226.
I bought the 226 (stainless) mainly as a range gun but wind up shooting revolvers mostly on the range.
I'm too lazy to chase brass around.
