I have a Ruger SRH in 454 Casull.
I currently cast a LBT .455 LFN 340grn Gc. I have been thinking of trying to load up 2 .455 round balls for the lil casull. I dont know why but was thinking they sould be pretty good for cyote hunting. Anyone tried this?

The round ball thing has certainly been done. I think you can get 3 000 buckshot balls in a .357. They tend to spread out pretty rapidly, and don't penetrate particularly well. Still fun to try though. I have never done more than 2 in a .38 spl., personally.

I think I saw smokeless load data for a 45LC in Lyman #47..FWIW...................Buck

I load 2 .429" RBs in 44 Magnum, and 3 of them in the 444 Marlin. They weigh 116grs each and they seat really deep, so I used the 245gr full wadcutter data in the Lyman manual. It worked fine. You could probably do something similar for the Casull.

I've also taken .375" RBs, run them through a .358" sizer die in my lubri-sizer (which gives a short parallel section - along with shaving a small ring of lead off them), and loaded two of them in 38s and 3 of them in 357s. These weigh about 80grs each, and I again used wadcutter data for the 38s due to the deep seating.

The 357 and 444 loads are much different - We're in true handloading territory at the heavy weights of three round balls... I've found small doses of medium-slow powders that exhibit low liklihood of pressure spikes are best.

I did the same thing as MakeMineA10mm in 357. Challenged a friend to a shooting match, he fired 6 rounds, I fired 6 rounds. You should of seen the look on his face when we checked targets. His 6 well placed rounds could'nt beat my 18 spread out holes for points. He said I don't know how you did it, I know I counted 6 rounds go off. It convinced him to become a reloader. The multi ball rounds are fun but I would'nt consider them accurate or powerful enough for hunting.

I hesitate to admit it, but I used my 3-RB 357 loads in my club's pin matches. I always won the centerfire revolver division, and they always wondered how i cleaned those pins shooting so wildly!

If you want to kill coyotes one ball is enough.

If you hit it in a vital area it will die. If you miss it doesn't matter how many balls missed. It is easier to get a single ball to hit where you aim than it is to get a shot charge to group where you aim.
