I have never tried tumble lubing with Lee Liquid Alox (or with anything else for that matter), but now may be the time. I am having a mold made for a 375 rifle with the intention of loading to 1900-2000fps and I have the choice of micro grooves for tumble lub or conventional lub grooves. Tumble lubing seems likely to be less messy but accuracy and freedom from leading are what matter. What seems to be the method of choice?

anything i push hard gets standard lube grooves and a gas check.
you forgot about dip lubing.
you might only want/need one or two grooves full of lube.
overlubing a boolit will cause purge flyers especially in the heat.

Yeah I'm no expert but run is right.

That sounds pretty hot for tumble lubing plain base. With the likely pressures you would be well served with a gas check either way but you also want a more robust lube. Try dipping a beeswax base or maybe even a darr lube.

My vote would be to pan lube, going a little slower than you are suggesting. Maybe 1600-1900 range.

Thanks to you both. Sounds like conventional lube is favoured. I would plan on a gas check in any case.

The above comments are good, sound advice. I've used tumble lube for years on my 38 wadcutters at around 750 FPS with absolutely no leading or accuracy problems in my Ruger GP100. But my Ruger Redhawk in 44 mag gets conventional lubing along with a gas check.

I have never been a big fan of tumble lubing but then I don't shoot anything under 800fps either.

Dip lube with thinned LLA or simular.Check Ranchdog site.I use this method for 30-06
