I'm sure we all find wierd lead objects, but have you found items you would not melt.I know yall have fine pewter you would'nt part with.I have run across a few things that i dont think i could melt and hope nobody else ever does. Those things are some old solder that came from a factory thats gone now and was responsible for alot of pollution and left hundreds of ton of lead laying and exposed but.Another are gun ballast from an old plane.Anyway seems very interesting.Maybe in the wrong section.Haha

Can you describe the gun ballast from an old plane in a little more detail?

...and what was the company that made the lead toy soldiers?

I feel so stupid spelling solder wrong.I fixed that and the gun ballast was from the first F-15 so they could fly it with out guns and ammo and get the same weight in there.I got It from an old A/V in his 80's.

Well, it would have been nice to have had the opportunity to help clean up those tons and tons of solder left over from the factory.;)

I have a bar of 50/50 that I picked up from someone on here that is from Selby, CA. A little company town a few miles from me that was a superfund site in the 80's from all of the tailings that they left on site from the "tallest" smokestack in the state that used to be a lead smelter.. or something to that effect.. kind of neat that I have a little bit of history from that local plant..
