I get a very good condition Mitotoyu 0-1" 0.0001"mic with the slip clutch and
carbide faces at the gun show for $17.

I pointed out that it didn't zero, :groner:so he knocked it down from $20. Had the original
case and wrench.

A drop of Mouse Milk, reset the zero to dead on. :bigsmyl2:

Nice deal Bill. I have one of Mitotoyu's caliper tools and like it. I wish I could find a deal like you found as I have some need of a 0-1" mic.

Keep an eye peeled at gun shows. Many folks have no idea about precision
tools. The seller asked me what I would use it for after the deal, and after looking
at him hard to decide if he was 'funnin' me, I briefly explained cast boolits, fitting to
barrels and throats, etc. He seemed interested and also slightly amazed. Still had
not much of a clue afterwards. Young guy, maybe 25 YO.

At 25, he probably thought it was a broken clamp.
Has it completely cooled off yet?

Just one question. How do you get mouse milk? Really tiny fingers? :D

From a metal can. It is a penetrating oil brand name.

Keith,

I've had a fixed spindle carbide faced 0-1, 1-2, 2-3 set for 30 yrs, and they are
wonderful mics, but the opportunity to pick up the slip clutch version for $17 was
too good to pass up. Of course, I have developed a pretty decent 'feel' over the
decades, but the slip clutch should be extremely consistent.
