This is the first time at this stuff and man does it take time, but fun, plus I know I can do it well.
We did get out and shoot some, they worked well. I dint have a croney to tell speed, no leading the barrel, Lone Wolf in my G22.

Real nice casts. What did you lube them with?

Great job and welcome to the madness.... :-P
I shoot that same boolit out of a s&w M&P 40 and have had great results with the slower powders like 800x, HS-6, AA#7, Bluedot, and Longshot for some real thumpers. I don't have a lube sizer, so it's quicker for me to tumble lube these ones and then run them through a lee sizer than pan lube the 180tc regular style ones. It's awesome when you find good results with your own home made ammo. Can't beat the feeling.

RED333 :

You have some nice looking bullets there. That is a fine bullet also for the .40

Is the excessive heat from the Turkey fryer a problem for you. I use one also, but not to cast with. I use mine for smelting and making ingots only.

Thank you, in the heat of the summer it is a bit much, I try to get my casting done early in the day or late at night.

When the time is right, I highly recommend the Lee 20 lb. elect. dipper model. A great way to spend $50.00

Those were my first cast bullets also, work great in my XD40! With Power Pistol I can get 1050 with these. 2 gr. less and I get a nice soft 900 fps load. I started using Recluses 45-45-10 and like it better than strait L-Alox, less messy. With a bottom pour furnace I can knock out 8 # of bullets in about 1 hr. with that 2 cav. Them's nice lookin' boolits by the way!

i run the standard lube groove version of that , over power pistol 6.3 gr for a standard load and 4gr for my wifes lite load

a 20lb bottom pour furnace , 6 cavity mold and a turret press , and you can almost keep up with demand

for the fine shooting boolit and wanting to go shoot more of them

ok i admit my casting time is limited so i like to make the most of it when i get the pot hot i can cast up 400 then fill the pot wait 20 minutes and go again , then i have some for a while

caution: once you try a 6 banger mold you may never want to hit a mold with a stick again

Nice looking boolits! Was just looking around for what to get to cast for my Taurus 24/7 g2 in .40 and I think you answered my mold question!!!

This past weekend I cast about 1k Lee 401-175 TC, lubed with Lars BAC, and loaded what tuned out to be the last of my empties. It also turned out to be the last of my alloy, time to procure some more. I've got around 7k loaded, as does my brother. There's nothing like having everything loaded up - except having a pile of cast boolits and lots of powder and primers on the shelf. I guess it never ends :) Frank
